Going beyond
the surface.
Image, materiality, perception.
The creative
process
I begin with a drawing, but from that moment the painting follows a path I cannot fully foresee. Brushstroke by brushstroke, colour by colour, the image takes shape and keeps evolving.
Until the very end, I do not know what the final result will be: every work, once complete, is a discovery for me too.
The Trama
Percettiva
My research stems from a desire to move beyond painting understood as a mere image.
Once the painting is finished, I return to it with a second, textured layer of paint: the Trama Percettiva.
The weave is not added to conceal the image, but to complete it. It creates a filter through which the viewer is invited to piece together what they see.
Up close, the marks and texture come to the fore: from a distance, these elements merge with the painting and the image becomes whole again.

The time
of looking
In a world that moves ever faster, I feel the need to preserve a space for authenticity and observation.
Perhaps this is also why my research is rooted in a need for a slower pace and a deeper way of looking, less bound to appearances.
The work calls for time, attention and a way of seeing that reaches beyond the surface.
From research
to the works.
